The chart above illustrates the very first design I produced for Animal hats to knit. The notes are my notes. The publishers did not like the asymmetric eyes but agreed to allow me to have ten asymmetric designs in the book. This was a massive set back for me because I encourage people in my workshops to avoid facial symmetry when designing faces. At the same time, I was asked to keep the crochet elements to a minimum and avoid button eyes. There is no crochet in the final book, but there are a few button eyes.
